Summer Sunflower collections appeal

Tina Soysa, Loena Rawson and Margery Hartley

Each year the hospice asks local venues such as supermarkets, DIY centres, gardens centres etc, if we can have a collection on their premises. This is known as the Summer Sunflower collection.  They are in essence “flag days”. We have a supply of attractive fabric sunflowers which are offered to the public in return for donations.

Over the past few years, collections have been held at more than 40 locations during May to August.   But they rely on volunteers to man the venues. Our local supporter groups also help by organising the collections in their  local areas, raising approx £15,000.

Sunflower collections are also held in schools, churches and other similar venues.
